Site Maintenance
Web Site Maintenance Packages
When you launch your own business online, be it a web store or information Website, you naturally assume that because you have some practical knowledge of the Internet, you can now manage your very own Website and it’s maintenance.
This may well be true, but does your skill level restrict the effectiveness of your web management and the potential earnings your Website can bring to the table?
When you are deciding whether to manage your own Website maintenance or outsource the task, you must carefully evaluate your needs and above all else, address any areas you think may be of weakness.
In our experience so many sites once on the web are left to flounder and fast become out of date. People leave and are still listed as contacts, prices are not updated, "I have seen sites offering holidays with prices 3 years old". So believe me it's so important to keep your site up to date and fresh, if people visit your site and find it's out of date they think you are no longer trading, so no business from them, the search engines like changing content, so your chances of a high ranking are nil.
Here are a few key considerations for you to take on board and hopefully, these will assist you when making this crucial decision whether to let your Website stagnate or take up our Website maintenance service.
* It is a common misconception that once you launch a Website, that is the hard work done. The sales will begin to flow and the site can take care of itself. This could not be further from the truth. It is a hugely time consuming effort to get a Website off the ground. You have to be able to market the Website effectively, build inbound links, maintain the security of the Website, keep the content fresh and much more besides. Do you have the time to do this AND run your business?
* Your Website - In order for your site to succeed, your Website needs to be attractive, easy to use and error free. You also need to consider accessibility and future browsing conditions. Have you the skills in house to manage this aspect?
* Your Website security – Every day, 100’s if not 1000’s of Website are being hacked. In order to prevent this, you need to ensure your Website data and client information is secure at all times. You can do this in many ways, including anti-viral software, security cron jobs and many other methods can be used. Is this something you are confident with?
* Your Website growth – Managing a Website that begins to make money is one thing. But maintaining a customer base that is growing daily is something else. If you imagine that for every 10 customers you have, at least one of these will call you daily and take up around 20 minutes of your time. What if you had 1000 customers? Are you able to inform these of new offers, handle their concerns remotely and take care of their needs?
These points do not list every consideration you need to take on board, but do form the basis of a critical thought process you need to undertake when you are thinking of outsourcing your web management.
If you feel confident to manage your Website then you may well be on your way to a bright future. If you do not, then for the sake of your business, you must consider the maintenance package.
